Max Surla has been writing music for over 25 years.

He is the recipient of the 2016 Telly Award for his work on "Born to Explore, Secrets of the Sahara".

He received his first EMMY nomination in 2015 for his work on "Born to Explore". 

He graduated from Manhattan School of Music in 1989 with a Masters Degree in Composition, studying under John Corigliano and Giampaolo Bracali.

He began scoring for film and television under the tutelage of Richard Fiocca. After writing music for more than 30 National Geographic Explorer, PBS and Discovery Channel documentaries with Richard, Max has gone on to score numerous shows for all the major networks and cable television stations.
